GH Cookbook

What good would a website about HOME be, without a cookbook? I couldn't come up with a good answer for that, so I created this section for all of my favorite recipes.

I wanted to have a place where my 'on her own' daughter could go to refresh her memory about her favorite dishes...so she can impress everyone and make her mother look good. (I would certainly like some credit for teaching her something at some point in her life.) Hopefully, you can find some uses for this 'cookbook' too.

Here you can find all of our tested secrets to good cooking! Bon appétit !

Oh, by the way...you can print out the recipes. See that little symbol up there to your right? Click on it and hit print. Easy!! You can also email a link to any page on this site. Now, why wouldn't you want to share?

  • Breakfasts   ( 2 Articles )

We can't forget breakfast, right?  I have a few recipes up my sleeve.  My kids are big Food Network fans...I can't be shown up!  They won't be fancy, but will be just as yummy!

  • Breads   ( 3 Articles )

braided breadSome sweet breads and others...I didn't think they really belonged in the dessert section, so I created this category.  Nothings says 'warm & fuzzy' like a hot muffin to go with a cup of coffee!

  • Main Dishes   ( 14 Articles )

Ever get sick of the same 'ole, same 'ole?  Well...I get stuck too, so I come up with new things to try out on the family.  When they like something, and ask for it again...it shows up here on my site.  Fair enough?

  • Desserts   ( 15 Articles )

Here's where you'll find all the yummy treats (and how to make them) that are supposed to come at the end of a meal...or just an in-between snack; but it'll be hard to maintain that self-control after browsing this section.

  • We have no Russian heritage, but my kids love them! For many years, we made cookies (lots of different kinds of cookies) at Christmastime and passed them out to all the neighbors as gifts. Our way of saying, ‘We’re glad you’re our neighbor.’ The kids always insisted that this kind make the list. Go ahead, try them. They’ll probably end up in your recipe file too. We had as much fun making them as we did handing them out (and sneaking a few for ourselves).

  • Becky's NY Cheesecake (Paula Deen)

We LOVE cheesecake!  This one has cream cheese AND chocolate AND berries...mmmm!  You'll have to try this one.  We did.  Becky made this to share at our Wednesday night Bible study.  I think we have a little competition going on there.  LOL!!  It's one of the most delicious kind!

  • Everybody needs a good chocolate chip cookie recipe!  Here's one that's soft (thanks to the ½ tsp. of cold water), but crispy around the edges (if you use real butter).  It's been tested by the most scrutinizing pallettes!

  • I got a hankering for a streusel-topped cranberry muffin one day.  Did you know they don't sell those in Nebraska?  Well, if they do, I couldn't find any.  So, I set out to find a good recipe.  What follows is a couple of different recipes thrown together.  Hope you like it.

  • My mom always made scalloped potatoes at least once a month.  Easy, cheap staple foods that we always had around made this a great fix for a family of 13!  Here's my own twist on this 'old standby'.
